Kampala, Uganda – In a ground-breaking initiative aimed at equipping young people with essential digital skills, Pebuu has successfully trained 100 youths at the Kampala Digital Hub. The intensive training program, which spanned several weeks, focused on digital literacy, financial technology, e-commerce, data analytics, and cybersecurity, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the evolving digital economy.
The program is part of Pebuu’s commitment to empowering the youth with practical and employable digital skills that will enhance their competitiveness in the job market and create opportunities for self-employment. Through interactive sessions led by industry experts, participants gained hands-on experience in using digital tools, understanding fintech solutions, and leveraging data-driven decision-making in business operations.
Speaking at the certificate award ceremony, John Paul Ssemyalo, CEO of Pebuu, emphasized the importance of digital skills in today’s world. “We believe that by investing in digital training, we are not only shaping the future of these young people but also contributing to the broader economic growth of Uganda. The digital revolution is here, and Pebuu is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind,” he said.
The training program covered:
- Digital Banking & Financial Technology – Understanding digital payment platforms and mobile banking systems.
- E-commerce & Digital Marketing – Equipping participants with skills to start and manage online businesses.
- Data Analytics & Cybersecurity – Teaching the fundamentals of data-driven decision-making and online security best practices.
- Business Process Automation – Streamlining operations using technology to enhance efficiency.
Several trainees shared their experiences, highlighting the program’s impact. “Before this training, I had little knowledge about fintech and e-commerce. Now, I feel confident in using these tools to start my own online business,” said one participant.
Pebuu’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts continue to focus on digital inclusion and youth empowerment. The organization plans to expand the program to other regions in Uganda, ensuring more young people gain access to these valuable skills.
At the conclusion of the program, each participant was awarded a certificate, recognizing their successful completion of the training. These certificates serve as a testament to their newly acquired competencies and will boost their career prospects in an increasingly digital world.
